As a licensed clinical psychologist with training in neuropsychology, I provide services to children, adolescents, and adults. I enjoy working with older adults and their families. My approach to clients is solution-based, interactive, and involves identifying core strengths to effect positive changes.
Areas of specialty in working with adults and families include:
- Parent training for parents of children with ADHD
- Life adjustment and transition
- Changes and adjustments of aging
I work with children and adolescents in a warm
and supportive atmosphere addressing the following concerns:
- Behavioral and emotional challenges
The content, length, and progress in therapy typically depend on many factors, including personalities of the therapist and the client, the particular problem which the client brings, and client's motivation to work toward change in their life.
Potential clients should be aware that therapy involves both benefits and risks. It is not unusual to experience somewhat uncomfortable feelings like sadness, anger, or anxiety, especially at the beginning of therapy.
The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process, do your homework, and put into practice what you learn. I routinely provide my clients with handouts and homework assignments they complete between sessions. I also encourage them to make positive changes in lifestyle and to seek outside supports. For families, parents may need to make changes in their behavior and the environment to support child's progress in therapy.
Therapy will help you gain a better understanding of your difficulties and strengths, and acquire tools to manage life more successfully. You will increase self-confidence, vitality, well-being, improve your relationships with others, and decrease unhealthy relational patterns.
